సాఫ్ట్వేర్ శ్రామికుడు

 I've had this question lingering in my mind for a long time: what kind of poetry does one write? A person who is hungry for something writes poetry about that hunger of something. that "something" can be anything like god, food, love, women/man, nature and so on. A person's poetry is shaped by their childhood, environment, and education.

Now, having worked in the IT industry for sometime, I thought it would be fitting to write about the life of a software engineer. This is my humorous take on being a software engineer, expressed in the form of a poem with emphasis/stress at the end of each line...

సాఫ్ట్వేర్ శ్రామికుడు

ఓ సాఫ్ట్వేర్  శ్రామికుడా,  ఓ సాఫ్ట్వేర్ శ్రామికుడా 

చదివావ  గో దండకాన్ని,
              సి మండలాన్ని,
              ఇ పండితాన్ని...                                                    (GO, C, E programming languages)

రచిస్తున్నావా రస్టోతరాణి, 

                  సిక్వేల్ స్వరాని, 

                పైతాక్షరాని...                                                   (rust, SQL, python)


అళుతున్నావా జావా తీగల రాగ సుధామాలికని, 

                    గో చర్య గమకాని, 

                    రూబి పీచు డమకాని...                                      (java threads, go routine, ruby fiber) 

                                                                                          

విపుతున్నావా సిపిపి ముష్టి  మెమరీ లీకుల అష్ట-కష్టాలని, 

                                                        కష్ట-నష్టాలని,

                                                        నష్ట-వృష్టాలని...                                        (CPP=C++)

సమావేశాల్లో సందిస్తున్నావా  బిరాల తేదీలని,

                                       నిరాల చాడీలని, 

 కొని తెచ్చుకుంటునావా ఎక్కడ లేని ఇక్కట్లని ...

ఆలకిస్తున్నావా కాలాబీతి శోధనా సాధకుల ఆర్థ నాదాలని, 

                                                          వ్యర్థ నినాదాలని,  

                                                          కొండెన్గి కథనాలని...  

గర్జిస్తున్నావా మరి, తిమిరాలు కావు అవి తృష్ణలూ అని,

                           ఉట్టి తూటాలని,

                           పిల్ల-గాలి వాటాలని... 

ఆశ పడుతున్నావా ప్రమోషన్ వస్తుందని,

                           ఇంక్రిమెంటు తెస్తుందని,

                           ఆన్ సైట్ పోవొచ్చని,

                           డబ్బులు ఎనికేయొచ్చని,

                           పిచ్చి పిచ్చిగా రిచ్ అయిపోవొచ్చు అని...            (promotion, increment, on-site, rich) 

బాధ పడుతున్నావా జాబు పోతుందని,

                              డెడ్లైన్ వస్తుందని,

                              హైక్ తన్నిందని,

                              స్టాక్ మునిగిందని,

                              ముపై దాటిందని,

                              జుట్టు రాలిందని,

                              ఉన్నది ఊడిందని...                                          (job, deadline, hike, stock)

అర్థమైందా ఇది పెద్ద వేస్టు అని, 

                ఈ ముష్టి కన్నా వైరాగ్యమే బెస్టు అని,

                హిమాలయాల్లో ఉండు రెస్టు అని...                                               (waste, best, rest)

కాని ..... 

మరిచితివా  ఈరోజు సండే అని,

                  రేపు మండే అని,

                  ఆఫీస్ కి పోవాలనీ,

                  ఇక  వేదాన్ని కట్టి పైన ఎటాలని,

                  నిద్ర పోవాలనీ...

ఓ వెర్రి, అరి కట్టు పిసినేశ్వర 
ఓ మంద మృదు సూచికేశ్వర
ఓ తిక్క యంత్ర నిర్దేశ్వరా 
ఓ శోధనా సారథి, యోచనానిది,  స్పురద్రూపి  పాహిమాం పాహిమాం పాహిమాం

(jira in telugu = speech)

వృష్టా: shower

బిరాల: faster
నిరాల: special


గర్జిస్తున్నావా మరి, తిమిరాలు కావు అవి తృష్ణలూ అని, ఉట్టి తూటాలని, పిల-గాలి వాటాలని

"Are you roaring that they are not darkness(bugs) but desire(requirements), empty-bullets(not a real bug) and small winds( small bugs)?"
తిమిరాలు: darkness
తృష్ణలూ: desire

ఓ వెర్రి, అరి కట్టు పిసినేశ్వర
Ō vēri, ari kaṭu pisinēshvara

"Oh mad, miser who pays tax"
అరి: tax
ari katu is word play for tax payer and tax cut(u) implying TDS deduction

ఓ మంద మృదు-సూచికేశ్వర
Ō manda mṛudu sūchikēshvara

"Oh slow/gentle lord of soft-instructions (O dumb lord of software)"

Ō śhōdhanā sāratḥi, yōcanānidi, spuradrūpi pāhimāṁ pāhimāṁ pāhimā

"Oh Tester, Project-Manager, and Manager (handsome), protect us, protect us, protect us"
śhōdhanā sāratḥi: tester (metaphorical meaning)
yōcanānidi: yochana + nidhi = Project Manager (One who plans) (metaphorical meaning)
spuradrūpi: handsom = Manager (metaphorical meaning)
